Our Executive Team
John G. Reid
Director, President and Chief Executive Officer
In May 2018 Mr. Reid was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Mr. Reid was appointed to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer on January 1, 2016, having responsibility for the oversight of the Company’s operating units, including purchasing and inventory management.
In 2013 Mr. Reid was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. From 2009 to 2013 Mr. Reid held the position of Vice President, Operations, Service Centers and took on increased responsibility for the energy products units. Mr. Reid started with JMS Metals Services, Inc. and related companies (“JMS”) in 1991, was promoted to President of JMS in 1994 and served as President of the Company’s JMS Russel Metals operations since the Company’s purchase of JMS in 2007.

Martin L. Juravsky
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary
Mr. Juravsky joined Russel Metals in May 2020 as Executive Vice President and assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer and Secretary in July 2020. Mr. Juravsky is responsible for the Company’s finances including, capital markets, investor relations, financial reporting and corporate development activities.
Mr. Juravsky has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Business Administration from the Ivey Business School. He is also a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Chartered Accountant. Prior to joining Russel Metals, Mr. Juravsky was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Interfor Corporation and prior to that had over 20 years of investment banking experience at several major firms.

John F. Maclean
Vice President, Chief Operating Officer
On May 1, 2024 Mr. Maclean was promoted to Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Maclean joined Russel Metals in July 2013 as the General Manager responsible for overseeing the Operations in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. In September 2016 Mr. Maclean was appointed to the position of Vice President of Canadian Service Center Operations and in April 2018 was appointed Vice President, Service Center Operations.
Prior to joining Russel Metals, Mr. Maclean was the Commercial Director of Bar Products for North America for Gerdau. During his 33 year career at Gerdau, Mr. Maclean held various management positions which included responsibility for Commercial, Distribution, Quality Control and Information Systems.

Lesley M.S. Coleman
Vice President, Controller and Assistant Secretary
In 2006 Ms. Coleman was appointed Vice President and Controller of the Company. On February 18, 2008 she was appointed to the additional position of Assistant Secretary of the Company. Ms. Coleman is responsible for financial reporting and treasury management.
In 2005 Ms. Coleman held the position of Controller of the Company. From 1991 to 2005 Ms. Coleman held the position of Assistant Controller of the Company.
Ms. Coleman began her career at Touche Ross & Co., predecessor to Deloitte & Touche, where she obtained her Chartered Accountant designation in 1985.

Ryan W. MacDermid
Vice President, Risk Management and Legal
Mr. MacDermid is responsible for the Company’s enterprise risk management, insurance program and legal affairs which include corporate transactions, capital market issuances, litigation management and corporate governance.
Mr. MacDermid also has direct operational oversight responsibility of the Company’s dry-bulk terminal operation as President of Thunder Bay Terminals Ltd.
Prior to joining Russel Metals in 2015, Mr. MacDermid was a partner of Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP where his practice was focused on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and corporate governance.
Mr. MacDermid is called to the Bar in the Province of Ontario. He is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, LL.B. and Queen’s University, B.A. (Honours).

Dan Schmelzer
Vice President, Information Technology
Dan Schmelzer joined Russel Metals in April 2022 as Vice President Information Technology. Mr. Schmelzer is responsible for the IT function across the organizations including IT Operations as well as Enterprise Applications. Dan has over 30 years of experience in IT for variety of industries including manufacturing, mining and utilities. Prior to joining Russel Metals, Dan was Vice Presiden of IT for Detour Gold and Amica and prior to that had held various senior leadership positions at ShawCor, Vale and Enbridge.
Dan has a Computer Engineering degree from the University of Bucharest and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Toronto.

Catherine Milne
Vice President, Human Resources
Catherine Milne joined Russel Metals in May 2021 as Vice President, Human Resources. Mrs. Milne is responsible for the human resources function across the organization including development and implementation of human resources strategy, programs, policies and systems.
Mrs. Milne has over 20 years of experience as an HR leader in large Canadian manufacturing and financial services industries with an international presence. Most recently Mrs. Milne was Vice President of Human Resources and Health and Safety for TC Transcontinental Inc.
Mrs. Milne has her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Trent University and achieved the designation of Certified Human Resources Executive in 2020 from the Human Resources Professional Association in recognition of her strategic HR leadership experience.
