The substrate used will depend on the end-use of the final manufactured product.

Both steel and aluminum are available in a variety of grades and finishes to suit the end-use requirements. These range from high ductility grades to high strength characteristics. Size parameters typically range from .010″ to .080″ in thickness with widths up to 60″ wide.

Cold Rolled

Available in a variety of sizes and grades, Cold rolled steel is produced from Hot Rolled coils by pickling to remove surface oxide and then cold reducing through a cold mill to the desired thickness. Before being ready for the coil coating operation, it is processed further with steps such as annealing for formability, temper rolling for surface smoothness and in some cases tension leveling for flatness.

Galvanized/Galvalume™

Cold Rolled steel with a corrosion resistant metallic coating applied to it in various coating weights. This is carried out either by plating the strip with zinc (electrogalvanizing) or by dipping the strip in a bath of molten zinc (Hot-dipped Galvanized) or a mixture of 45% zinc and 55% aluminum (Galvalume™). Before being ready for the coil coating operation, it is further processed by temper rolling for surface smoothness and in some cases tension leveling for flatness. Tin mill products can also be coil coated.

Aluminum

Like steel, hot rolled aluminum is cold rolled to produce strip suitable for painting. It is available in a variety of thicknesses, widths and grades and is usually further processed with steps such as annealing for formability, temper rolling for surface smoothness and in some cases tension leveling for flatness.
