General Labourer - RMI Ottawa

Russel Metals is one of the largest metals distribution and processing companies in North America servicing customers and suppliers primarily in Canada, the United States, and on occasion worldwide. The Company operates in three business segments: service centre distribution, energy sector pipe, tube, valve and fitting distribution and steel import/export distribution.  We provide steel processing and distribution services to a broad base of approximately 18, 000 end users through a network of 70 North American branches.
 
We are currently seeking a highly motivated, results oriented individual for the position of General Labourer (2positions – night shift) in our Ottawa branch.

Summary

Assist and support plant personnel to efficiently process orders to customer specifications achieving quality standards and production requirements and timelines and perform all tasks safely and in keeping with the workplace health and safety requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Complete pre-inspection equipment reports before each shift
• Perform all tasks safely and as directed
• Comply with all workplace policies including health and safety
• Be a team player
• Perform all tasks in a professional respectful manner
• Any other tasks that may be assigned by management
• Participate in all company directed training

Qualifications and Requirements:

• May be required to work rotating shifts
• Ability to read, write and understand English
• Ability to operate the overhead crane
