Brian R. Hedges
Chief Executive Officer
From 1994 to 2008 Mr. Hedges was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company. From February 2008 to May 2009 Mr. Hedges held the positions of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company. On May 12, 2009, Mr. Hedges was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company.
During his earlier years at Russel Metals, Mr. Hedges oversaw the divestitures of non-metals operations and the restructuring from a holding company to a metal distribution operating company.
Mr. Hedges is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Professional Accountant. His business career encompasses the positions of Chief Financial Officer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gandalf Technologies, as well as Chief Financial Officer of Teleglobe Inc. Both companies were involved in the Canadian international telecommunications industry.
Mr. Hedges also sits on the Board of a charitable organization in support of Carleton University.
John G. Reid
President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Reid was appointed to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer on January 1, 2016, having responsibility for the oversight of the Company's service centers and energy products units, including purchasing and inventory management.
In 2013 Mr. Reid was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to that, he was promoted to Vice President Operations, Service Centers in 2010. From 2009 to 2013 Mr. Reid held the position of Vice President Operations, Service Centers and took on increased responsibility for the energy products units. Mr. Reid started with JMS Metals Services, Inc. and related companies ("JMS") in 1991, was promoted to President of JMS in 1994 and served as President of the Company's JMS Russel Metals operations since the Company's purchase of JMS in 2007.
Marion E. Britton
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary
On February 18, 2008 Ms. Britton was promoted to Chief Financial Officer of the Company. On May 12, 2009 Ms. Britton was appointed to the additional position of Secretary of the Company. Ms. Britton is responsible for the Company's finances, including financial reporting and internal control, investor relations and providing support to the operating units. Ms. Britton is a member of the team which evaluates strategic opportunities to grow the Company.
From 2004 to 2008 Ms. Britton held the positions of Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of Russel Metals. From 1994 to 2004 Ms. Britton was Vice President and Controller of the Company.
In 1984, Ms. Britton joined Marshall Drummond McCall, which was acquired by Russel Metals in 1987. From 1987 to 1994 Ms. Britton was responsible for financial management for the metals operations division of the Company.
Ms. Britton is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Professional Accountant.
Lesley M.S. Coleman
Vice President, Controller and Assistant Secretary
In 2006 Ms. Coleman was appointed Vice President and Controller of the Company. On February 18, 2008 she was appointed to the additional position of Assistant Secretary of the Company. Ms. Coleman is responsible for financial reporting and treasury management.
In 2005 Ms. Coleman held the position of Controller of the Company. From 1991 to 2005 Ms. Coleman held the position of Assistant Controller of the Company.
Ms. Coleman began her career at Touche Ross & Co., predecessor to Deloitte & Touche, where she obtained her Chartered Accountant designation in 1985.
Vice President, Purchasing and Inventory Management
Mr. Halcrow joined Russel Metals in 2001 as Vice President, Purchasing and Inventory Management. He is responsible for overseeing the purchasing activities of Russel Metals' Canadian and US metal service centers that buy in excess of 1 million tons of carbon steel products annually as well as aluminum and other non-ferrous metals.
Mr. Halcrow joined the steel industry in 1985. He worked 5 years as an engineer designing and maintaining process automation computer software at Dofasco Inc.
After acquiring his MBA degree in 1988, Mr. Halcrow joined Dofasco’s Purchasing department. He held a variety of positions during his tenure with Dofasco, which positions included responsibility for the procurement of various commodities.
Maureen A. Kelly
Vice President, Information Systems
Ms. Kelly joined Russel Metals in 1998 as Vice President, Information Systems and has been responsible for the Company’s information system and technology resources since that time. In addition, she has led the successful conversion and integration of our acquired metals businesses onto our computer systems.
Prior to joining Russel Metals, Ms. Kelly was the Vice President, Information Systems and Administration for Gandalf Technologies Inc. She also has information systems experience in the telecommunications and insurance industries.
Ryan W. MacDermid
Vice President, Risk Management and Legal
Mr. MacDermid is responsible for the Company's enterprise risk management program which involves the identification, assessment, management and monitoring of enterprise risk, and he oversees the Company's legal affairs which include corporate transactions, capital market issuances, litigation management and corporate governance.
Prior to joining Russel Metals in 2015, Mr. MacDermid was a partner of Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP where his practice was focused on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and corporate governance.
Mr. MacDermid was called to the Bar in the Province of Ontario. He is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, LL.B. and Queen's University, B.A. (Honours).
Vice President, Human Resources
Ms. McMullen currently leads our Corporate Human Resources and Labour Relations functions in support of our business operations throughout Canada and the U.S.
Prior to joining Russel Metals in 2007, she worked as Vice President, Human Resources for a global inspection and certification company and brought diverse human resources experience gained in the manufacturing, telecommunication, transportation and retail sectors.
She has held the designation of Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) for more than 20 years and also previously served on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
